Shenanigans Over the Years[]

This page is dedicated to the crazy things engineers 'may or may not have' been involved in.

Science 82 April Fools Prank Apr1 1982

1978[]

In 1978, some Engineers purchased a wrecked plane fuselage and other parts. The group of engineers took the plane and overnight staged a mock plane crash of University avenue. (A picture can be seen in the JDUC) near QP. (I will upload one soon)

1982[]

On April 1st,1982, a group of engineers maneuvered a car through the double door of the JDUC on it's side, down the hall, and suspended it from the ceiling. Allegedly, the civil engineers in the group had been tasked with making sure the beams would hold the vehicle.

1987[]

A group of engineers took two cars and decided why not weld them together, with one on top of the other. For a little more fun they took off one of the car doors and welded it to both cars.

1988[]

On April 1st, it was just an average day of classes until students who had a lecture in Stirling Auditorium were unable to have the lecture. Why you ask? Every single seat in the auditorium was removed and taken from the room leaving behind an empty lecture hall. The seats were replaced by the sneaky pranksters and all was well.

1990[]

1990

A group of students took a cutting torch into the parking lot and cut a hole in Chrysler Plymouth's hood. The front end of the car was disassembled, and the car was rolled to a light post. The car was reassembled and welded back together around the post located beside Douglas Library. Needless to say the laughs that ensued were well worth the effort put into this prank.

My father (a Sci '90) recalls "I was driving down Union when i saw this car, at first I didn't know what was happening and then I saw the post through the hood. I was like what the heck is going on. It was a good laugh."

The following pranks do not currently have years associated with them[]

- A group of engineering students broke into Douglas Library late one night with a live cow. The students walked the cow up the stairs to the top floor, but as you may already know cows can walk up stairs but are unable to walk down them.

- Another group of engineering students again broke into Douglas Library late at night and carried a small car (a mini cooper I believe) up the stairs to the top floor and somehow placed the car on the roof.

(These pranks occured between 1986 and 1990
